Can I install a butler sink myself?

A bright farmhouse kitchen with a white butler sink set into a wooden worktop, a brass bridge tap and a window above.

The answer

Possibly in part, but a qualified installer is the safer choice, because the sink is heavy and fragile and the work involves water supply and drainage. In the UK, water fittings must comply with the water regulations; in England and Wales the 1999 regulations require notice to the water supplier for certain work unless an approved contractor installs it, and Northern Ireland has its own regulations. Check the rules with your water supplier, and check the manufacturer's guidance, which may also affect your warranty.
