Can I fit a butler sink in a standard kitchen cabinet?

A bright farmhouse kitchen with a white butler sink set into a wooden worktop, a brass bridge tap and a window above.

The answer

Sometimes, but not always. Standard base units are not always built for heavy ceramic and may need strengthening or replacing, and the cabinet must also be wide and deep enough and may need modification at the front. Check the manufacturer's recommended cabinet size and support, inspect your existing unit for damp damage or movement, and ask a qualified installer to assess it before you buy. A purpose-made sink unit is another option to ask about.
