Do butler sinks come with tap holes?

A bright farmhouse kitchen with a white butler sink set into a wooden worktop, a brass bridge tap and a window above.

The answer

Some do and some do not. Many traditional designs have no holes, so the tap is fixed to the worktop or the wall; others have one or two holes, or a rear ledge made for a tap. Check the specification for the number, position and diameter of any holes, and the spacing between two holes, before choosing a tap. Never enlarge or drill holes in ceramic without specialist advice, because it is easy to crack a sink that took weeks to arrive.
